System Technology

Computer Lab showing students using computers

The Technology Department of Geneva City Schools installs and maintains many technological items instrumental in today's educational environment. Each of the Pre-K through 12th-grade classrooms in our system is equipped with document cameras, 86" Interactive Panels, and state-of-the-art Polycom cameras that track speaker movement and allow our teachers to record lessons or facilitate live classroom instruction for homebound students, virtual students, or for additional review.

Students using Chromebooks

For student use, we have over 2000 Chromebooks available to our 1250 students pushing us toward an almost 2:1 Chromebook-to-student ratio. High-speed internet is available to all buildings and classrooms in our system to allow students and staff alike unencumbered access to the online digital resources. While the internet is a wonderful instructional source for information, we know there can be pitfalls along the information superhighway, and to protect our students we provide content filtering and monitoring to keep the education environment safe and appropriate.

Digital signage has been added in each of our three schools. These displays are located in the school's hallways, cafeterias, and other common areas, and provide students, staff, and visitors with current event announcements and other items of interest or importance.

At the end of the day technology is just another tool our educators and students need to enrich and augment the learning experience, and our Technology Department strives to provide the tools that both our students and our teachers need in order to succeed.
